Pemulwuy Cooks River Trail Petition

‘Living by the River’ site in Warren Park

The Cooks River Valley Association (CRVA), with assistance from Gallipoli Centenary Peace Campaign (GCPC), has collected nearly 60 signatures on a petition that calls for the establishment of a Pemulwuy Cooks River Trail.

The signatures were mainly collected at two events that were held in Marrickville during April and May 2018.  These events were the Anzac Day Reflection held on April 25, 2018 in Richardson’s Lookout – Marrickville Peace Park and the National Sorry Day Walk along the Cooks River on May 26, 2018. Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week observed in Marrickville

To observe both National Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week, the Cooks River Valley Association (CRVA), supported by Gallipoli Centenary Peace Campaign, organised a walk along the Cooks River on Saturday 27 May.

National Sorry Day is a day that pays tribute to the Stolen Generations and their families. This year it commemorated the 20th anniversary of the Bringing Them Home Report which was tabled in Federal Parliament on 26 May 1997.
